American design underwent radical changes during the first three decades of the twentieth century, largely due to the influence of European Modernism. Goss examined how the work of innovative French designers, in particular, reinvigorated and reshaped taste, from New York to California.

Tony Duquette remains beloved for his over-the-top style in interiors, jewelry, costumes, and set design. Wilkinson recounted original stories about this design legend in a lecture offered in collaboration with Western Interiors and Design.

Designer to the Nation: John Fowler and English Country House Style
Martin Wood, Textile, Interior, and Garden Designer, London, and Author of John Fowler: Prince of Decorators (Frances Lincoln, October 2007)
The English Country House Style as created in the mid-twentieth century by the decorating firm of Colefax & Fowler not only set fashions and changed tastes, but defined a lifestyle. Wood illustrated the influential commissions of Fowler and his partners Sibyl Colefax and Nancy Lancaster in a lecture offered in conjunction with The Royal Oak Foundation.
