A pioneer in the field of volunteerism, The Volunteer Center serving San Francisco and San Mateo Counties plays a critical role in fostering a strong network among non-profit organizations, the business sector, and ordinary citizens united by the overarching goal of improving local communities. 

During National Volunteer Week (April 15-21. 2007), The Volunteer Center made a special effort to support new volunteers and recognize existing volunteers and their selfless work.  Hats Off! A Celebration of Community Volunteers was a cocktail party at the close of National Volunteer Week.  Community volunteers came together to honor the recipients of the annual Volunteering Awards, bring to a close a week of community outreach and let volunteers, nonprofit employees and corporate partners mingle.
